Student Welfare & Campus Safety
DPS Kamrup maintains four dedicated committees to ensure the safety, dignity, and well-being of every student on campus. These committees operate year-round with trained staff, clear policies, and transparent processes.
Disciplinary Committee
Maintaining a fair, safe, and orderly school environment
Purpose
- Establish and communicate clear codes of conduct for all students
- Review and adjudicate cases of student misconduct fairly and transparently
- Ensure consistent application of disciplinary policies across all classes
- Provide restorative pathways for students who breach school norms
- Collaborate with parents and counsellors in addressing behavioural concerns
- Document incidents and maintain records to identify patterns and trends

Scope
The committee's jurisdiction covers all student conduct within school premises, during school-sanctioned events, and in digital spaces where students represent DPS Kamrup.
POCSO Committee
Protecting children from sexual offences as mandated by law
Purpose
- Implement the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012
- Provide a safe and confidential reporting mechanism for students
- Conduct age-appropriate awareness programmes for students and staff
- Ensure all mandatory reporting obligations to authorities are fulfilled
- Support survivors with counselling and appropriate referrals

- Mandatory reporting to law enforcement within 24 hours of receipt
- Dedicated confidential reporting channel accessible to all students
- Trained Internal Complaints Committee with gender representation
- Annual POCSO awareness sessions for students, staff, and parents
Scope
Covers all incidents involving sexual offences against minors under 18 years of age, occurring on school premises or in any school-related context, in compliance with the POCSO Act, 2012.
Child Protection Committee
Ensuring every child's right to a safe and nurturing environment
Purpose
- Uphold and promote the rights of every child enrolled at DPS Kamrup
- Identify and respond to signs of abuse, neglect, or exploitation
- Develop and regularly update the school's Child Protection Policy
- Train all staff in child safeguarding principles and reporting obligations
- Build a culture of openness where children feel safe to speak up

- Child-friendly complaint boxes in every school building
- Collaboration with local child welfare authorities and NGOs

Scope
Encompasses all forms of harm including physical, emotional, and neglect-based abuse. The committee's mandate extends to bus routes, off-campus events, and digital interactions involving school students.
Safety Action Committee
Proactive campus safety, emergency preparedness, and risk management
Purpose
- Conduct regular safety audits of all school buildings, grounds, and equipment
- Develop and maintain the school's Emergency Response Plan
- Coordinate fire drills, earthquake drills, and other safety simulations
- Assess and mitigate physical hazards across the school campus
- Liaise with local fire department, police, and civil defence authorities

- Trained first-aiders among teaching and administrative staff
- 24/7 CCTV coverage of school premises with monitored feeds
Scope
Covers all aspects of physical safety on campus including structural safety, fire safety, electrical safety, transport safety, and emergency preparedness for natural disasters and security incidents.
